so it's another 30 in thirty and I have decided to try something different. I am taking a painting by my favorite artist Vincent Van Gogh and breaking it down into 30 6x6" pieces and painting one square section or more per day. Then when the month is over I will display it as a whole.
I spent a lot of time prepping for this project. I cut pieces of Masonite into 6" squares, sanded the edges, and with the help of my 5year old granddaughter Kira, put acylic gesso on both sides.

next I chose the painting I thought would be interesting for the 30 in 30 project, one that shows a good deal of palette knife work and gorgeous colors. The one I chose is called Wheat Field with Cypress. I love the movement in the sky and the wheat, and the knife work.
next I had to create a grid to put over the painting on my iPad to break it up into 30 squares. I had an old report cover made of clear plastic. I measured the size of my iPad screen and used a permanent marker to make a grid with thirty nearly equal size squares in it. Next I opened the report cover, and set the iPad inside the cover with the grid covering the screen. Perfect! No tape needed!
here is a photo of the book cover with the grid on it sitting on a paper towel so the grid shows. I numbered the squares so I can keep track of the paintings and they will be numbered on the back also just to make it easy to arrange them, just in case! Here is my first square of the painting .
